When in Greece…
When the physician/scientist/husband and I were in Athens briefly last May, one of his colleagues convinced us to join her for a quick overnight trip to Spetses. The island did not disappoint, with it’s quintessential charming doorways, rambling narrow paths, a beach, seafood supper and apriati, a perfect shop to pick up souvenirs. We spent our short night at the Posiedonion, a grand hotel extraordinaire. Charming. White linens. Water taxi collected our luggage and us from the dock at 3am in order to arrive at airport in time for flight to US. Sigh. But sublime.
Morning, sweet Bear. xo dearest Mommy. #nofilter (at home)

Made popular in the late 17th c, Dutch Delftware puzzle jugs are rare. Amsterdam dealer @RobertDAronson, in NYC for the Winter Antiques Show, has a collection of jugs on view together with a rare 21st century cobalt blue vessel. This one, illustrated top right, is not ceramic but made by a 3D printer from an early model of what was once used for drinking games and conversation.
The blue jug is one of eight and the selling price is $690.
To learn more about the early ceramic jugs, click through to Michelle Erickson video here as she recreates an 18th-century puzzle jug from the V&As collection.
and on the 21st c. 3D printing front, turns out others, including Stanford’s Cantor Art Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, are also hacking and reproducing objets d’art. I like it!
