Wow. And some people think getting into a selective pre-school is tricky. Try reserving a room at the Inn (or anywhere within a reasonable distance) for parent’s weekend at your scholar’s college or university. Not only do accomodations fill up month’s in advance, one place I called books rooms by “lottery.” That is, “you are welcome to add your name to the list as we draw guests’ names by lottery.” This means, never will we be have the assuredness of being a return visitor, not for four year’s of parent’s weekends, never mind graduation. Just another reminder that alpha parents get the bone. I’m not interested, not now, not when she was in-utero in playing that game. We will find our place. We always do. But stressful nonetheless.
As for graduation weekend, I did ring one place that takes reservations a year in advance. On the Monday following graduation. Shall I mark my calendar now? Perfectionism isn’t easy.
